Thank you for coming to Darwin. You might remember the enthusiasm of the Beswick group of leaders, from central Arhemland, who just to get to the meeting borrowed a dingy to cross a flooded river. They then walked quite a ways before wading/swimming a flooded, crocodile infested swamp that covered the road (up to chest deep) for a couple of hundred meters. Then they walked and hitched a ride for the next 24 kms to a 1982 eight-seater van which they had to push start. Then they drove through the night about 400 kms so they could be at the airport in Darwin to pick me up and be in Darwin in plenty of time to get to your meeting. I had just returned from ministry in Queensland and knowing the weather I was amazed to see them. They were certainly happy that they made the effort to go!
